![]() ![]() Our booking stated “You'll be given the VIP treatment and get express check-in. We should have been accommodated in a Rock Royalty Level Deluxe Platinum Double Room with kingsize bed, and to a whole load of extras. ![]() The room was of the lowest standard in the hotel. Due to the standard of the room, we were unable to spend any time in it other than when sleeping & showering. Our clothing was wet every morning when we dressed, the room had 2 beds, one of which was wet & cold throughout our stay. It did not smell quite as bad as the original room but it became apparent when we awoke next morning, that this room too had a damp problem. We were shown to another room which was of a lower standard than the previous room. The receptionist eventually slapped a piece of paper on the desk with a new room number & re-coded our arm bands which were used to unlock the room door. I was ignored but refused to leave the reception desk until I was given another room. I explained that I had been travelling for more than 20 hours by that point & needed sleep. She did not pass me to this colleague nor did he make any approach to intervene. I then pressed the point & asked for the duty manager to which she said “it’s him” pointing at a colleague. I asked to speak to the hotel manager & was told he was not there. She said that no one had inspected the room & that until this had taken place she would not move us. I explained the situation to his colleague, a young lady, who was extremely unhelpful & unprofessional. I returned to the front desk over an hour later &, unfortunately, the young man was no longer there. I was told that this process would take around 15 minutes & so my wife & I went to have dinner. A very pleasant & capable young man dealt with my complaint & said that he would have to get the room checked by maintenance staff & that it they could not repair it, he would move me to another room. I was horrified at the smell of dampness & mould within the room & returned to the hotel reception desk to ask for a room change. On arrival at the hotel, I was given a private check-in which was very good. If you are a British tourist please think twice before booking this hotel! You will most likely be the only non American/Hispanic guest in residence & depending on your regional dialect you will struggle to make yourself be understood.
